As a PhD student, I conduct research in Orthopaedic Surgery. In my work, I am particularly interested in orthopaedic infections, primarily fracture-related infections and antibiotic pharmacokinetics. I have a degree in medicine (medical doctor), and my current research includes a PhD project investigating fracture-related infections in a porcine model.
My current research revolves around developing a novel porcine model of fracture-related infections. Clinically relevant experimental large-animal models are essential before clinical implementation, and current treatment guidelines are based on research in other areas, not specific research on fracture-related infections. This research will yield knowledge that ultimately will benefit all patients with fractures.
