Department of Forensic Medicine

We offer analysis of medicinal products, drugs of abuse and metabolites in biological samples.

Known analysis or development of new analysis?

We offer three analysis packages with well-known analyses, which you can read more about below.

If you need a completely new analysis, we also offer analysis development.

Abuse analysis 1 - analysis of the 50 most frequent substances

The analysis detects 50 toxicologically relevant substances (both medicines and drugs of abuse). The content of substances is continuously adjusted according to the development of the substance market in Denmark. In addition, the analysis also contains transformation products (metabolites) for some of the substances.

The analysis is carried out with mass spectrometry and is thus a specific analysis (verifying/confirmatory). The analysis is not quantitative.

Comments:

  1. Delorazepam, lorazepam and lormetazepam can be transformation products of diclazepam. They can also be consumed independently.
  2. Nordazepam, oxazepam and temazepam can be transformation products of diazepam. They can also be consumed independently.
  3. Nordazepam and oxazepam can be conversion products of chlordiazepoxide. They can also be consumed independently.
  4. Morphine can be a conversion product of codeine.
  5. Oxymortone can be a conversion product of oxycodone, but can also be consumed independently.
  6. Amphetamine can be a conversion product of methamphetamine, but can also be consumed independently.
  7. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the active ingredient in hashish/cannabis.
  8. Cathinone and/or cathin are euphoriant ingredients in khat/catha edulis.
  9. MDA can be a conversion product of MDMA, but can also be consumed independently.
  10. Psilosin is an active ingredient in some mushrooms.

Abuse analysis 2 - extended analysis

The analysis detects all substances on our analysis list which can be the cause of poisoning (both medicines and drugs of abuse). The content of substances is continuously expanded according to the development of the substance market in Denmark. The analysis list can be seen at the bottom of the page.

In addition, the analysis also contains transformation products (metabolites) for some of the substances. The analysis is carried out with mass spectrometry and is thus a specific analysis (verifying/confirmatory). The analysis is not quantitative.

About us

The Bioanalytical Unit is a core facility and research unit at the Department of Forensic Medicine.

The Core facility offers collaboration in connection with method development and analysis of smaller organic molecules. The unit wants to enter into cooperation with researchers, authorities, the health service and private companies.

In relation to research, the Bioanalytical Unit covers research and development within chemical biology and metabolomics as well as forensic chemistry and toxicology.
